Works of music
Modern forms of communication and commercial activity often require the use of music.
On-line radio stations, musical websites, even sites with content added by users are required to enter into an agreement with the Hellenic Society for the protection of Intellectual Property (AEPI).
AEPI constitutes a Collective Management Organisation of intellectual property rights , according to the provisions of the law 2121/1993. The purpose of the Organisation, in accordance with the law and its statute, is the administration of intellectual property for all works composed and/or written in the past and all works to be written in the future by the creators/intellectual property owners of musical works that have entered into an agreement with the Organisation.
Business entrepreneurs venturing in the internet market are very often not aware of the fact that any sort of use of music within their websites requires a license granted by the Hellenic Society for the protection of Intellectual Property (AEPI).
For the protection of interests as well as the clarification of the complex legal framework regarding works of music and the music industry, both in Greece and internationally, it is of vital importance to consult specialised lawyers who have the necessary expertise in Copyright and Intellectual Property Infringement issues.
Part of a lawyer’s duty is to supervise the financial terms as well as the final agreement itself between the entrepreneur and the Hellenic Society for the protection of Intellectual Property (AEPI).
